Description
Walnut oil is very healthy due to its particularly high content of mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids (especially linolenic acid). Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids help maintain cholesterol levels and protect the blood vessels from harmful constrictions. This leads to lowered blood pressure, which in turn reduces the risk of heart attack.
Walnut oil also contains remarkable amounts of minerals, trace elements and vitamins. As a result, the oil has a health-promoting effect, increases the muscle performance and can even improve brain function. Especially the B vitamins, lecithin and phosphorus have a positive effect on the nervous system.
Particularly for vegetarians and vegans, walnut oil is an excellent alternative to animal fats, because most of the important fatty acids are usually provided by animal products such as meat and fish.
The linoleic acid has a positive effect on skin and hair. By applying walnut oil to the skin, it is also possible to relieve cracks and inflammation or fight small wrinkles.
Use
Just one to two tablespoons a day are enough to benefit from the positive effects of the oil. To get the maximum benefit, it is best consumed cold, as some of the valuable ingredients are lost in the heating process. For this reason, it is particularly suitable for cold dishes such as salads or to refine desserts. If you want to use the oil for hot food such as rice, fish or asparagus, it should be added at the end of cooking or just before serving. This tasty, high-quality edible oil with its radiant golden color has certainly conquered our kitchen!
Storage life
Walnut oil is very sensitive to oxidation and should therefore be stored well sealed in a dark and cool place. This way, the oil can be stored for up to 12 months.
